AMSS - Tennis Court and multi-use sports surfaces
BASE DESIGN

A porous tennis court is designed like a drain, it has a fall on the formation up to 1%.
This is carried through all levels including the playing surface.
A porous geotextile material is laid over the formation layer to prevent contamination of the aggregate by sub soil and also to act as a weed barrier.
A hard frost resistant stone is then used to form a foundation and drainage layer over the geotextile.
The depth of the foundation layer is determined by underlying ground conditions, the minimum foundation layer used would be 150mm.
Holes are drilled 750mm into the formation layer into which the fence posts are concreted, this creates a pile foundation to the perimeter of the court. The foundation layer is then rolled to consolidate.
The pre-cast concrete edgings are laid on top of the stone.
We then lay a two coat macadam system that you will find in every LTA supported club contract.
We use the two coat system to ensure the final surface falls within a high level of tolerance as well as creating an even texture for consistence ball bounce, compared to a single coat macadam system.
On top of this base one of the three porous surfaces is laid.
