Resurfacing your court can make sound sense

Our Texplay II surface provides an ideal medium for resurfacing old courts. Laying a carpet over your old court is a very attractive alternative to conventional tarmac resurfacing, which calls for a minimum of 30 tonnes of hot tarmac, and the presence of big rollers and tractors in your garden.

Texplay II offers a host of benefits. It's economical, looks good, it's easy on the joints, it grips when it's damp, and it's suitable for other sports too. Maintenance is simple, because you can pressure wash at full pressure.

Installation is easy too, with no need for heavy lorries and equipment in your garden. Texplay II comes in rolls of fabric and 25kg bags of mineral dressing which can be carried in. This is especially helpful when the original access used to build the court has been lost through plant growth, hard landscaping, and later construction. In contrast, resurfacing with hot macadam, calls for the macadam to be reasonably near to the court.

Not all old courts are suitable for macadam resurfacing. Greygreen grit courts were never built to take the heavy rollers that are needed to lay hot macadam.

Similarly old macadam courts that are not strong enough to take a roller on them can be resurfaced with Texplay II. As an added benefit, Texplay II insulates the foundation and will reduce the affects of freezing on an old or ash base.

Cleaning and maintaining your court

It is important to get all debris and leaves off your tennis court and wash any slime from the surface that may have developed. If this is not done, moss and algae will feed on this slime and in the case of Tennitex courts, make the surface slippery and eat into it causing rapid deterioration. It is especially important that dirt and moss in the surface are cleaned out to ensure free drainage, as water held in the surface matrix can freeze and expand to release chippings, spoiling the tennis court.

We offer a deep cleaning service that not only washes dirt off the surface, but out of the surface to restore your court's grip and drainage thus extending its life.

If your court has not been maintained for some time, this deep cleaning is the first process, allowing us to carry out a much more accurate assessment of it's needs. Other processes that may be recommended include, binder coating, repainting, resurfacing or overlaying with synthetic grass. All work is carried out punctually and efficiently by professionals, and includes treatment with a moss killer. We offer the option of a one-day service to get your court playable gain quickly. Our two-day deep clean service will revive the most tired courts. Simply pressure washing a court will not give you the kind of deep clean that you need to make the court safe and ensure that it lasts for years. The picture below on the left shows a court surface that has been first pressure washed and then cleaned again with one of our Whirl-A-Way surface cleaners. The ugly black tidemark shows the extra dirt that has been forced out of the surface. If you simply repaint a court that has only been pressure-washed, you will trap a substantial layer of dirt under the paint, and prevent the court from draining properly.
